Dybdahl ready to release his 4th albumAfter finishing his impressive October trilogy, which was also his debut album, the Norwegian singer and songwriter is ready to release the successor to his highly acclaimed project. The new album called “Science” was out in Denmark September 25th.
The music is still highly original and insanely spell-binding and shows convincing talents for song writing along with impressing vocal capabilities.

This time the visual part of the album is in the able hands of two world famous French monsieurs: photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino and designer Philip Starck. Together the team of three has developed the album artwork after Stark himself contacted Dybdahl offering his assistance – a wish Thomas didn’t hesitate to comply with!“The French connection” isn’t limited to the visual aspects as the album though. As well as being in the shops in Norway and Denmark the album is also released in France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, USA and Canada.
The first single release “Be a part” is already on its way to the radio stations along with the accompanying video.
Furthermore the Danes can look forward to let Dybdahl and band enchant them with their brilliant live performances in Denmark this fall.

Norwegian Grammy Award (“Spellemannprisen”) and Alternative Award (“Alarm”) winner, 24-year old Thomas Dybdahl, is definitively one of the most talented singer-/songwriters to emerge from the new Norwegian music scene. He has received raving reviews for his two gold selling albums “…that great October sound” and “Stray Dogs”, and he is now ready to introduce his songs to the rest of the world.
“…that great October sound” was released throughout Europe by Glitterhouse, June 2004. The album includes 11 songs and was practically written, produced, played and recorded by Thomas Dybdahl himself. He provides the vocals, the guitar, the bass, the organ, the harmonica as well as other instruments on the record. The album was mastered by Scott Hull (Miles Davies, Uncle Tupelo, Bruce Springsteen, etc) in Classic Sound Studio, New York.
Most of the tracks were conceived in New York, autumn 2001. On this trip he collaborated with Mike Daly (Whiskeytown/Ryan Adams), Edie Kuhnle (Cat & Edie) and P.K. Ottestad (Getaway People, Robbie Williams). The result is a melancholic stroke of genius which is easy on the ears and introspective without succumbing to platitudes and naïveté. Dybdahl is known to be an extraordinary artist, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter.
- The first radio single "From Grace" was A-listed for 14 weeks on the national radio station NRK P3 and for 10 weeks on NRK P1.
- “…that great October sound” and “Stray Dogs” have spent 42 weeks at the official sales chart in Norway, and peaked at # 6.
- Thomas Dybdahl won Spellemannprisen 2003 (The Norwegian Grammy Award) for best Pop artist, Alarmprisen 2003 (Alternative Grammy) for best Pop Album and Edvardprisen 2003 for best Pop Song.
The second album, “Stray Dogs”, was released in October 2003. The album was written in New York and at other “exotic” locations where Thomas can go and find the time and space to write. Once again the reviews were overwhelming, the tours were sold out and the album (sold 21.000 by April 04) and the singles off the album did great. He was nominated for two prices at both the Norwegian Grammy Award and the alternative Grammy again this year. In addition his video for the single Cecilia was nominated in both awards.
Thomas Dybdahl is a hard working musician and has the last year found time to write songs for other artists (amongst Maria Mena) and movies as well as writing and recording his third album, producing a film soundtrack and contributing in other various projects. He is also the lead singer of the new gold selling Norwegian band “The National Bank”, featuring members from Jaga Jazzist and Big Bang.
His third album in three years, “One Day You’ll dance For Me, New York City”, will be released in Norway in October 2004.
