Ave
May we introduce Ave - an epic Danish rock band with grandiose rock music.

The first time we really heard about the Danish band Ave, who resides in Nyborg, Funen, was as the opening act at SPOT '09 with a grandiose concert that blew the Danish- and Foreign press away.
Gaffa wrote: Ave with Odense Symphony orchestra and Herning Church Boy Choir: An experiment that succeeded, and receipted with 5 out 6 stars.
The debutalbum is out in October 2010

Neil McCormick of The Daily Telegraph wrote about Ave: A 12-strong post Radiohead outfit who imaginatively incorporate strings and percus- sion. Its not often you hear a harp solo or rhythm track made from old typewriter.
David Fricke of Rolling Stone Magazine wrote: The genuine highpoint for me at SPOT 2009.

So it is not small expectations Ave has to live up to.

Since SPOT' 09 Ave has been quite on the sur- face. They have been away from the public eye, but only because The Band had plenty of work to attend to in the studio. In the summer 2009 Ave were busy recording materials for a five-track EP "Five Poems", wich is released digitally on February the 15th as a prelude to the forthcom- ing full length album, coming in April / May.

In contrast to the concert at SPOT '09 with the Symphony Orchestra and Choir, Ave's "Five Poems" is cut to the bone. This means a more gloomy and melancholic universe, which is particularly heard on the tracks "For Her Departure" and "All The World For Love May Die."

Ave plays complex, original and melancholic rock, with its myriads of small details, intense atmosphere wich also contains several interest- ing and subtle layers that invites the curious listener on a journey into Ave’s music.

The lyrics are based upon Old English poetry from the Baroque- and Romantic period. Poems which are grounded in life’s great feelings - love, death and grief -, feelings that are just as current today as they were then. Linguisti- cally Aves lyrics are a hybrid with equal parts of old and modern language that makes it inter- esting and often ambiguous for the listener’s interpretation of the song's meaning and moral- ity.

Ave are: Dennis Winterskow (voice), Søren Brylle (bass), Michael R. Jacobsen (guitar) and Rasmus Brylle (drums)
"Five Poems" is released digitally on February 15th and will be followed by Ave's debutalbum in (April/May) published by Playground Music
